Process and Chemical Engineering Awards 2023

The annual Process and Chemical Engineering Awards provides a showcase for UCC’s engineering talent and rewards student achievement. The event demonstrates how the School of Engineering & Architecture has positioned proactive engagement with industry at the heart of its curriculum.  The Awards recognise student achievements across a diverse range of academic and extracurricular activities, and showcases student excellence in advanced process design, operation and innovation, with the philosophy of sustainability production at its core. The Awards provide a showcase for emerging engineering talent and demonstrates the key role the School of Engineering & Architecture in supplying industry with the highest quality graduates. We are grateful to Gilead for sponsoring this year's event.

SOE PhD student awarded a prestigious Heidenhain Scholarship

Engineering PhD student, Tinghao Liu, under the supervision of Dr. Guangbo Hao, has been awarded a prestigious Heidenhain Scholarship by The European Society for Precision Engineering and Nanotechnology (euspen) for attending the euspen’s 24th International Conference and Exhibition to be held in Dublin, Ireland. The scholarship will cover his  conference fee and a networking dinner and single contribution of €300 towards his accommodation and subsistence costs. Scholarships are awarded to researchers in recognition of strong academic accomplishment and significant potential in the field of metrology, precision manufacturing, sensors, machine tools, automation and measuring instruments performance.

SUSFERM - a groundbreaking new multidisciplinary fermentation research centre launched at University College Cork

A University College Cork (UCC) colloquium, hosting experts and stakeholders from industry, academia, and government bodies from the bioeconomy sector, will also see the official launch of SUSFERM, a ground-breaking multi-disciplinary fermentation research centre. The colloquium entitled "Opportunities in the Irish Food and Bioeconomy Sectors for Precision Fermentation and Microbial Biomanufacturing," features speakers from Clonbio, Siemens, Enterprise Ireland, the Carbery Group, Teagasc, SOS Ventures and more, discussing the potential of Precision Fermentation and Microbial Biomanufacturing to shape the future of the Irish food and bioeconomy sectors.
